My first significant job in the Animation industry was producing artwork for my brother Tim to animate under the direction of TERRY GILLIAM on MONTY PYTHON AND THE MEANING OF LIFE.

At WYATT CATTANEO I made a short film THE NIGHT VISITORS which did well at various festivals and allowed me to demonstrate that I could in fact animate in a drawing style unlike the berries or the tea folk!

I joined forces with GARY KNOWELDEN, an old colleague, to form BLUE FISH CARTOONS, after I had worked with Gary through G and M Productions to direct and supply the animation for IT’S THE PIED PIPER CHARLEY BROWN, a Television feature produced and directed by BILL MELENDEZ.

BLUE FISH supplied the animation for SNAILSBURY TALES (BBC television) which was created by SILVEY JEX (a creative partnership I had often worked with over the years, the RIBENABERRIES being a case in point) and produced by David Neal for Maverick Entertainment. BLUE FISH then went on to make MUFFIN THE MULE, again for the BBC and Maverick Entertainment, a revival of one of the earliest of all Children’s TV series.

BLUEFISH developed other projects, including THE LAST SLEIGH, BRIEF LIVES , ROCKPOOL, and THE JUNGLE BOOK (for Entara).

Outside of Bluefish I worked with STEAM DRIVEN FILMS under the direction of my brother Tim, helping to build puppets for the projected feature film ‘1884. YESTERDAY’S FUTURE, WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN BUT NEVER WAS produced by JOHN NEEDHAM, with TERRY GILLIAM as executive producer.
